Ayurveda is a traditional Indian science of healing. Its origin is untraceable due to its coexistence with the universe. Even in the ancient days of history man had a vision to see and understand the relationship between him and the nature. His understanding of the natural world around him developed into this great science called Ayurveda. This holy medical system emphasize mainly on prevention of diseases and to live a healthy and happy life. A wide variety of healing techniques are adopted within the ambit of this system including massage, herbo-mineral supplements, change of diet and medicated enemas.
Ayurveda recognises that, we all have a unique constitution that is determined by the balance of three vital energies in the body. These energies are called as three doshas viz. Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Our body and mind functions are managed by one or possibly two predominant doshas, and therefore individuals are classed as vata type, pitta type or kapha type, or when two dominants occur vatapitta type, pittakapha type vatakapha etc.
When all the three doshas are in balance, we are in a healthy state. Vata is the driving force and relates mainly to the nervous system and the body\'s energy. Pitta is fire and relates to metabolism, digestion, enzymes, acid and bile whilst Kapha is associated with the water of the body, mucous membranes, phlegm, fat and lymphatics. A complete health care system, Ayurvedic medicine provides an explanation for all modern medical conditions and how the disease process started and what initiated it. Disorders that can be treated are gastro-intestinal problems, circulatory, metabolic and nervous system disorders, high blood pressure and blood sugar problems. Some of the many symptoms that can be helped are headaches, tension, stress, anxiety , insomnia and life style disorders.
